Neighbo(u)rhood Sheep Society 2017

By | January 27th, 2017|Neighbourhood Sheep Society, Uncategorized|

Neighbo(u)rhood Sheep meets Neighbo(u)rhood Alpaca When Jess and I embarked on our Neighbo(u)rhood Sheep Society adventure almost three years ago our big dream was to have some yarn spun specifically for this project. Back then we could never have imagined that we would be putting together a package with two custom spun yarns from opposite sides of the world! As we know life ebbs and flows, back in early 2014 when we started chatting about sourcing small batch yarns, adding our own creative flair and sharing these designs with the world, I was living in Edinburgh. Friendship Across the Oceans

By | August 12th, 2016|Uncategorized|

Hello and happy Friday! I have something new and exciting to share with you today. I have been working away on this for many months now and I am so happy to be able to show you these designs today. When we starting putting the plans in place for our big move last year I knew I would have some time in South Africa and was determined to get to see my wonderful friend Sally-Jane Cameron who lives on the west coast near Cape Town. We chatted about my visit and decided it would be good fun to celebrate our [...]

Settling in and making plans

By | May 25th, 2016|Uncategorized|

Settling in and making plans Two months ago the little one and I boarded a plane after an inspiring (and unexpected) week in New Zealand and headed ‘home’. A few short hours later we were touching down – in Melbourne – permanent visas granted and everything we had been dreaming of stretched out in front of us. For those of you who have followed this blog for a while you will know this move was a long time (for me at least) in the making. I don't think I have ever waited so long to move anywhere. I’ve moved a [...]

Caught My Eye – Summer Knits

By | July 9th, 2015|Uncategorized|

{Weekly feature showcasing my favourite knits of the moment} My love of summer tops continues - not that I seem to be knitting many summer tops for myself - pesky deadlines keep getting in the way ... but still, there are plenty of awesome designs out there. Silk, linen and lightweight yarns are wonderful to work with in the warmer months. Here are some of my favourite summer tops from Ravelry featuring utterly gorgeous yarns from inspiring designers. The first two are older releases but I love the shaping and the fibres they feature... Francis by Olga Buraya-Kefelian is worked in [...]

Pwani | Summer Shawl KAL

By | July 6th, 2015|Uncategorized|

{New design for the Tangled Yarn Summer KAL} On Friday I launched a new pattern for the Tangled Yarn Summer KAL. I was so excited when Rachel asked me to design a shawl for her. Summer holidays are a great time for relaxing knitting - who doesn't love an easy rhythmic knit. I certainly enjoy long rows of soothing garter stitch as a way to unwind.   [av_heading heading='Pwani | coast in Swahili' tag='h3' style='' size='' subheading_active='' subheading_size='15' padding='10' color='' custom_font=''][/av_heading]   As my eyes close, my mind wanders off to memories of wide-open spaces, long sandy beaches, sunny skies [...]

Capturing the Everyday

By | June 6th, 2015|Uncategorized|

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend. I am enjoying the fact that the sun is shining brightly on my little corner of the world. Today I want to share with you my deep love for the visual medium of photography. It was my first creative love and deep down I love nothing more than to gaze through the viewfinder of my camera. I spent three years at university studying photography, and although some of my technical skills have lapsed - yes, I am lazy and shoot in auto focus mode far more than I should - my passion for the [...]

Caught My Eye – Barbe Socks

By | April 30th, 2015|Uncategorized|

This week I am all about socks! Actually I am usually all about socks, but recently the Caught My Eye feature has been on a summer knitting kick. Today I return to you with some gorgeous socks. I love my uber complex socks but I am also a big fan of the simple sock with a twist. These socks are exactly that.   [av_heading heading='Barbe Socks' tag='h3' style='' size='' subheading_active='' subheading_size='15' padding='10' color='' custom_font=''][/av_heading] Leah B. Thibault or Ms. Cleaver has a fantastic range of great designs but these socks really grabbed my attention. The Barbe socks are just a fab [...]

Caught My Eye – Divergence

By | February 12th, 2015|Uncategorized|

My love of grey is well documented, however I also have a soft spot for bright colours. I prefer my colour in 'pops' and scarves and shawls are the perfect vehicle for adding colour to my life. With that in mind I could not help but fall head over heels in love with this shawl. Divergence. Copyright: Christelle Nihoul   Christelle Nihoul has many beautiful designs but something about this one Caught My Eye. I think it is a combination of shape and colour and my longing for some brightness in these cold grey weeks at the end [...]
