Yaw – an adventure in self stripe
Hello there – I hope you are having a wonderful week. I am slowly sorting out the new house, unpacking boxes (it never seems to end) and getting myself back online. I have a few exciting things in the works – more about that very soon.
In the meantime I wanted to share my latest release with you – Yaw.
This pattern was in The Knitter last year and I am super excited to be able to release it on Ravelry today. I think it is the perfect combination of easy breezy knitting and something a little different.
I love self stripe yarn and often I am happy to knit round and round and round, endless stocking stitch – but sometimes I want a little bit more. So, I designed Yaw – an adventure in self stripe.
An delightful”colourwork” pattern, that highlights the stripes and adds a touch of texture to the sock. It is super easy to knit and you just follow the stripes as you go. For the heel I opted for a “Band Heel” which has a uniquely shaped heel flap that fits well and does not distort the stripes. I prefer this to the standard afterthought heel – but you could easily substitute your favourite heel method here, it would be easy to pop in an afterthought heel, short row heel or the “Fish Lips Kiss” heel.
The yarn I used for these socks is from Tanja at The Knitting Swede – she even created a special summer colourway for me last year called Lemon and Mint. Tanja has just restocked her self stripe yarns in the Etsy shop and she has a wonderful range of colours for you to choose from.
You can find all her yarns here, and she will be at Wonderwool Wales this weekend if you are UK based and want to squish the yarn in person.
